Reshaping people’s views of fine art as something obtainable and understandable invites people back into a world that has for far too long been reserved for select groups. Our enjoyment of art as a creative and emotional outlet is universal and should be treated as such. Studying the work of the architect and designer Charles Mackintosh as well as work from other mixed-medium “total” designers has helped to push my thoughts about design to new heights. Breaking past perceived limitations on my work in the form of material, societal and artistic norms has helped to clear a path for me and my artistic journey. I am interested in mixed material use and the manipulation of light and caustics.

I am a graduate of Kalamazoo college with a BA in Studio art and Biology. In school I focused largely on fine arts such as painting or drawing, which helped to strengthen my understanding of composition and color use. Apart from the classes I took in college, I did a lot of personal investigation with glass and wood in both painterly and sculptural manners. This work helped to land me a fellowship in the sculpture studio at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts for 2025-2026.
